Certifications

Organizations pursuing certification often underestimate how differently standards are interpreted and audited in practice. This page provides an overview of the certification standards we support, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, R2, and e-Stewards. Each standard has distinct scope, risk, and evidence expectations that must be understood before engaging a certification body. Our role is to help organizations evaluate readiness and identify audit-critical gaps specific to the standard(s) they are pursuing. Certification decisions remain independent of our work.

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 defines requirements for identifying, evaluating, and controlling environmental aspects and compliance obligations. Certification audits assess whether environmental risks are managed through implemented processes, operational controls, and management oversight.

ISO 45001

ISO 45001 establishes requirements for identifying and controlling occupational health and safety risks across operations. Certification audits evaluate whether hazards are managed through effective controls, training, worker participation, and management oversight.

R2

R2 defines requirements for responsible electronics recycling, including environmental protection, data security, and downstream material controls. Certification audits review evidence of chain-of-custody, due diligence practices, and operational compliance.

eStewards

e-Stewards establishes rigorous requirements for electronics recycling, with emphasis on environmental responsibility, worker safety, and downstream accountability. Certification audits evaluate documented controls, implementation practices, and supporting evidence across operations.

Are you ready for Certification?

Certification requirements vary significantly based on scope, operations, and risk profile. Our Certification Readiness Checklist (CRC) provides an self guided evaluation of which standards apply and whether certification is realistically achievable before engaging a certification body.
